Pics: A Ton Style, and a whole lot of it. You've never seen anything quite like this before.
Gina is the mastermind behind the fashion-tabulous, poetic blog called, "Awed." Her photo album displays an array of original, creative collections which are sure to provide inspiration and motivation.
She ardently tests the boundaries of crochet with a conglomerate of updated generational styles, from early 1910's-esque high waistline, decorative boutique dresses to 1950's matching secretarial jacket and skirt combinations to modern reconstructed, abstract apparel. Interspliced amongst those are several designs featuring bold, afro-centric patterns. All of her designs showcase an attention to detail.
With a flaire for the unorthodox, Gina's styles are haute, haute, haute!

dear, dear Alyisha, happy birthday to yooooooou! My daughter is 11 years old today!
She's so adorable!
er, the one in the red top. She's not particularly smiling, plus this is an older picture--say Aug '05. They were readying themselves for school back in MS. See, that's our side yard....Oh well, Katrina, we moved on!
Alyisha, "birthday girl", didn't want her pic taken so we'll suffice with this for now. I'll sneak up on her and get her another time.
Getting down to the wire, or Hook, to start my Awe-a-Thon for 2006. Pray for me.
Woo hoo! I had a professional makeup artist make me over!
Hey Hookie and Yarnie, do ya recognize me? huh, do ya, do ya?
I recognize my
ahem!--
--Our design work you're sporting!
But of course! Isn't it just gorgeous? You want to swing with me?! There's a space here....
Yarnie: Nah, I want to go play in the grass and get more fiber-interactive, ha!
And I want to "ping" down the stairs: catch me if you can!
not!
Let me go find another pic....
Another ImaGINAtive oriGINAl design:
Capelet Wrap: Gold, red novelty yarn in mesh pattern with rose and beaded tassel. (started yesterday evening 9pm. Why, oh because it won't hook itself although I have been know to crochet in my dream)
and, of course, the matching earrings
My new camera: HP Photosmart M415 5.2 mega with 3x optical. We're still learning how to use it.
oooh, I like; yes I like! Crochet-licious
slurp!
what fun!!!!!
And what is she doing with my one earring?!!! I know you hear me, Harpo--who is dis woman?!
These were not the earrings I was going to make yesterday with my Christmas outfit. Well, amidst these quickenings of inspiration, I looped this pair of earrings.
I believe the Mission Organization folks came on in, while I was out, and organized my home. Oh glory be! Fish earring hooks: lost & found dept.
Yes, inquiring minds, I do have the other one. I talked to her nicely. hmmmm Did I -- moi, little ole me--chew her head off? Is that suppose to be literal? ha
They still look better on me anyhow, even with her sculptural head self, smile.
You really mean "chewed off" head, Momma! Why are you sugarcoating it?! She got your earring! that we worked hard to produce....
Um, Hookie & Yarnie, what are you trying to start? Why are you engaged in this? It's my fight. Hookie, put that weapon down!
Momma, you have called it a weapon of praise. (sheepishly) I wasn't gonna do anything. Momma, we got your back! I was just going to introduce a, er, chord
Cord? Hmmm, I gotta make a choker soon.
Yeah, choke-her, right.
Back in the bin...
awwww gee whiz, cheeze-whiz.
Guys, she's not real....
She looked real good sporting that one earring, Momma!
It's between "Harpo" and I. Now, ping and roll.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm almost finished with my after Christmas scarf for moi. And I will make a bag with my "huge discount savings" day! Usually I don't go out since it's a crazy time for folks and their sales and forgetting the season of joyful giving so quickly.
Lady, that's my lace!
opps, did I say that?!
Jasmine... Happy, happy birthday to my 9 year old! Yep, "an after Christmas Sale" baby event.
Look, she was suppose to come on my b-day, JAN. 1st: but the stores were crowded, the traffic was horrendous, the pain was too great....and we were in labor for only 2 hours. Almost had her in the 90% off aisle.
not!
It's my bedtime, yawn, talk to ya later. Say good nite Gracie.
Whaaaat, whoa! keep her away from my earrings!!!!
pictures of sugar plum
dancing
Another imaGINAtive & oriGINAl Hook~it~up
Auntie: People just don't get all dressed up for Christmas!
Only I wasn't able to make the matching earrings! (I misplaced my findings--can you tv production makeover people find my stuff? Mission Organization, I need you!)
While I was over at family's house, I made a hat in Red Heart Lofty, the color Spice. She loved it; I surprised her. She jokingly was going to get on my case for asking my husband to go to the car to get my bag And then while she watched me--she had no idea it was for her--we conversed about things. I asked her to close her eyes....ta dah! She kept it on all night.
"It's so lovely; you don't go far from your craft."
Great observation.
Have hook will travel.
Otherwise, I get spasms: I need my fix! I need my fix!
ah, let's foam at the hook.
This is the content area where we can put text or images. Now, I will editorialize: This is Gina Renay learning some HTML because she enjoys new and exciting things. Ok, how's that?
That was fun!!!!
www.mandarindesign.com to thank for this and sooooo much more....
got a hook in my hand and adventure in my heart
don't stop me now
And you know something, it really wasn't so bad! I had some last minute items to get and the girls got to spend Walmart gift cards on whatever they wanted. And yes, we had to put some things back....was I embarrassed, of course not! Why should I be? Some people behind probably were inconvenienced but we were all beating the wire, so to speak, since they were closing at 6pm. We got there maybe 3:30 or so. I picked up some yarn and will make a quickie hat for my great aunt. She has been such a dear to house us pre-Katrina and then a few days afterwards when we arrived back in Atlanta. I'm thankful for family!
I met a very sweet, beautiful, stylish young lady in Walmart that I asked to model for me. Turns out she's a photographer. Can't wait to work with her!!! Shout-out to Peeka! Hey Lady, thanks for taking the time and the interest!
In the local supermarket, Krogers, a woman complimented me on my ensemble and told me I looked huggable. (I was wearing a variegated blue,tan, marroon crochet skirt with rose appliques, a cream colored shawl, with one of my crochet pins--somewhat similar to this one--hold one while I go find the pic.......(amuse yourselves, I don't have any elevator music playing) Then she walks away. I call out to her: "Hey, didn't you forget something?! Where's my hug?!" We hugged and what a joy! I told her she made my day and Merry Christmas.
I do have fun when I go out, "hooked up", ha. There's just a glorious feeling to walk in the labor of your own hands and to have others appreciate it also!
Um, I got a hat to get to, plus my outfit for tomorrow!
Have a good one and what's most important: GIVE of yourself every chance you can.
O night divine.....
Thanks Hubby for your editorial blip! oooh, he said "whatever"!
So, he has issues too--he's married to me....
My computer's up and there's gonna be trouble, hey now, hey now, my computer's back! Thanks Typepad Help Ticket People!!!
ohhh, hey now, hey now, my blog's back!!!! (Hubby's blip, again. hey, whose blog is this anyway?! go out of the room....yeah, yeah, we'll snuggle later. out, you hear?!)
he ain't moving
WHEW!!!! It feels so good, ahhhh, to not try to like tear your hair out because you kinda don't know what to do when 'puters crash, even tho you act like you're techo-smart but not! and you try so hard not to sound, er, dumb but if you are and you need help, you scream HEEEELLLLLPPPP and guess what someone hears you, cause you so loud and people need their eardrums so--
---no, people need their sleep!
yeah, Hubby's still in the room--go on now!
He's gone: finally got the hint!
Race & King Kong, here I haven't seen the movie and don't know if I want to. Not that I want to be picked up by a ficitious ape anyhow!
This is so sad----MS Citiz
ens Living in Tents/Image from The Clarion-Leger. We haven't travelled back there to visit and we had thought we would for Christmas, but unable to at this time....I did speak with a friend a few days back who between her and her family lost 5 homes and 8 cars....Here is an address of a volunteer group that distributes up to 300-400 supplies to those living in tents, trailers and cars. Hubby reminded me--that could've been us. There but for the grace of God go I.
Wishing you all peace and comfort in the days/weeks/months ahead. I wish to go back and hug my friends....
...according to Your Word.
My, my, I have been struggling with adding an animated character to my blog to both the side column and also in the post over the past 2 or 3 days which has been causing my poor computer to crash.
Typepad has been very quick to respond w/suggestions, but I deleted the post. Hopefully, I'll hear back from the other company so this can be resolved.
I love spontaneity but I'm dragging behind with this and completing projects.
Just a mini rant and I'm sure over the next couple of days or weeks, I'll laugh about all of this but in the meantime
HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!
Okay, feel alittle better now--not my vocal cords tho.
I'll have to distract myself
